Here are the instructions for the paper:
In the psychological thriller film Seven, homicide detective David Mills (played by Brad Pitt) becomes involved in the case of sadistic serial killer John Doe (played by Kevin Spacey) whose meticulously planned murders correspond to the seven deadly sins: gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, pride, lust, and envy.
Suppose that Detective Mills did not capture and kill Doe in the end, and Doe went on to perform an eighth homicide against someone whom he considers has committed an environmental sin.
Throughout the course we have witnessed the arrogance of man as he has harmed our environment. Major environmental issues that we have discussed in lecture have been people overpopulation; overconsumption; air pollution; climate change; ozone depletion; water waste; water pollution; runoff; garbage; pesticides; habitat destruction; loss of biodiversity; and invasive species. We have looked at how individuals matter and actions that you should and shouldn’t take.
Begin your essay by discussing in detail an environmental problem of your choosing. Be sure that your essay includes how just one individual contributes to the larger problem. Extra points will be given for selecting a problem that impacts Ocean County.
Finally, imagine that serial killer John Doe has witnessed someone offending our environment. What were they doing? What would John Doe consider to be an appropriate punishment for the person(s) responsible for such a crime? Describe the crime scene being investigated by Detective Mills, and be sure that the murder corresponds to the offense.
